Studio Ghibli's Oscar-winning SPIRITED AWAY, created by legendary animator and director Hayao Miyazaki, will return to the LONDON COLISEUM in 2028 as part of a major world tour.
Re-imagined for the stage by Olivier and Tony award-winning director of Les Misérables, John Caird, the show features wildly imaginative puppets, dazzling set and costume designs and a live orchestra playing the magnificent original film score by Joe Hisaishi.
SPIRTED AWAY originally premiered in Tokyo in 2022 and went on to enjoy a record breaking season at the London Coliseum in 2024 where the production played to over 300,000 people and won BEST NEW PLAY at the 2025 Whatonstage Awards and received four Olivier Award nominations.
A masterpiece of storytelling and stunning visuals, SPIRITED AWAY tells the enchanting tale of Chihiro who while traveling to a new home with her family, stumbles into a world of fantastic spirits ruled over by the sorceress Yubaba. When her parents are turned into pigs and she is put to work in a magical bathhouse, Chihiro must use her wits to survive in this strange new place, find a way to free her parents, and return to the normal world.
This production will be presented in the original Japanese, with English surtitles.
Age guidance is 7+. This production is not suitable for children under 6 years. Children need to occupy their own seats at all times throughout the performance.
Children 5 and under (including babes in arms) will not be admitted into the auditorium.
